The Cosmo Story
Cosmo is led by three founding directors, who met at Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata City, Osaka in 1995 when completing international business degrees. Emil Petterson (Sweden), Don Sternberg (USA) and Howard Lister (UK) shared an interest in Japan, business and cars. Within a year they had set up their own business together.
In 1996 the first car from Japan was exported to the UK, a Mazda Eunos Roadster in black with tan leather, and AIJ (Agora International Japan) began trading.
Strong links were established with Cosmo Trading, an established exporter in Kyoto and this formed the foundation of a growing business.
From the beginning the business has offered its customers a reliable and personal service. We explain things clearly and can be trusted to do what we say we'll do. We have in depth knowledge of the car export requirements, and we do everything we can to achieve smoother export/import transactions.
In 2011 after fifteen years trading, we established our company Cosmo Japan Co Ltd and moved our head office to Kobe, a thriving port city in central Japan and close to regional car auctions.
We have continued to expand our presence in key markets and set up our Myanmar - Yangon office in 2012 - becoming one of the first Japanese car exporters to establish a local base.
In August 2016 we celebrated our 20th anniversary of exporting high quality cars from Japan. We currently have a dedicated team of 35 people who will help you find the cars you need and ensure the whole buying and delivery process is handled professionally.
